For those manufacturers and distributors that do business in the State of Connecticut
As reported in various news outlets, including The Hartford Business Journal and CT New Junkie, Governor Malloy issued an Executive Order that mandates the creation of a public database of economic development grants, loans and tax credits that have been issued by the State. The website is already live. According to The Hartford Business Journal, the website already lists 1,000 grants, loans and tax credits received by Connecticut companies since 2011.
The Governor’s action is in response to calls for more transparency with respect to funds that have been given or loaned to companies over the past few years (typically, in exchange for assurances that the companies will keep and/or add jobs in the State). I would recommend that any manufacturer and/or distributor review the list particularly to see if direct competitors have benefited.
